The legislation will allow restaurants and bars to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption during outdoor events and activations by establishing a framework for the designation of future entertainment zones, revises local open container laws to permit the operation of these zones, and designates Front Street, between California Street and Sacramento Street, as the zone.

Waiving the registration fee requirement for vacant commercial storefronts would grant temporary relief to building owners and managers who are making good faith efforts to fill vacant commercial retail spaces in a challenging environment.

In working with the Offices of the City Controller, Treasurer and Tax Collector to make San Francisco more competitive, our coalition opposed tax increases on various sectors to make up for lost revenue on San Francisco’s largest employers. Instead, the City should pursue revenue negative tax reform that improves the City’s overall economy.
