About the PAC

The BOMA San Francisco Political Action Committee (PAC) is the political arm of BOMA SF. Established in 1987, it has grown into the largest and most effective PAC advocating for the commercial real estate industry in San Francisco.

Through the PAC, BOMA SF provides financial support to candidates and ballot measures that promote the interests of our industry, while opposing those that could harm it. By pooling our resources, the PAC ensures that BOMA has a strong voice and a seat at the table on critical issues that shape the future of San Francisco.=

What is a PAC?

A Political Action Committee (PAC) is a separate, tax-exempt bank account used to support or oppose issues or candidates for public office.

The BOMA SF PAC operates as two separate funds:

  • Ballot Issues PAC – Supports or opposes local and state ballot measures affecting commercial real estate (taxes, bonds, regulations, etc.).
  • Independent Expenditures PAC – Supports or opposes candidates at the local and state level, conducts polling, partners with community political organizations, and funds policy research.

Who Decides?

PAC contributions are directed by the BOMA SF PAC Board of Directors, which is made up of nine active BOMA members. The Board meets regularly throughout the year to carefully evaluate candidates and ballot measures affecting San Francisco. In addition to reviewing issues, the Board raises funds to strengthen BOMA’s advocacy efforts and develops a voter guide for members ahead of each election.

How is the PAC Funded?

The PAC is primarily funded through voluntary contributions from BOMA members during annual membership renewals. These contributions are one of the most effective ways to protect the commercial real estate industry from harmful taxes and unworkable regulations.
